Hey Timetastic users!

After considering your feedback, we have decided to rename the term ‘Boss’ to the friendlier and more approachable term ‘Manager’.

'Boss' is a somewhat dated term, it's not reflective of our customers - so it's gone.

At present the mobile app still has some references to "Boss" in it, these will come out in the next update.

If a request is still hanging around waiting to be approved after a week, we'll send a handy reminder to the approver that it needs dealing with.

We've all seen this happen, someone puts in a request for time off and a week goes by without it being approved, maybe their manager is away or missed the original request. It's not ideal, your colleague just wants to know if they can have that day off.

There used to have a function in Timetastic where you could manually trigger the reminder, but it was a bit hidden away and not used much despite the number of pending requests. So automating this process means it's one less thing to worry about, an additional bit of streamlining, helping you keep everything up to date 👏

We've got a nice update for you today. We've been working on the holiday details modal, to keep them fresh and informative. You should find that they are now easier to work with. 

Here's an example - this is what the user will see when they send a request for time off:

And this is what the admin will see - nice and easy for them to action:

If you have multiple bookings on the same day, it's much easier to navigate those now:

Some users weren't sure why you couldn't cancel a booking when you're not an admin, so we've made that clearer:

The more eagle-eyed of you might notice that you can no longer manually trigger a reminder email when your holiday is pending. Fear not, we're in the process of automating that entire function - more on that in a change log coming this way soon.

There are a few bug fixes in this release too.

We've cleaned up the Departments settings page a little so it's easier to digest and use. The main thing you'll notice is the 'default allowances' are gone.

Default allowances for a given department have been redundant for over a year now because you give each user their own allowance when you create their account in Timetastic.

We've added the country of a public holiday into the iCal feeds, to make it easier to see where the holiday is taking place, for example:

"Early May Bank Holiday"

will now show as

"Early May Bank Holiday - United Kingdom"

It's mainly useful if you have a team split over different countries.

We've updated the Timetastic bot and added a slash command so you can find out when your team are absent.

/timetastic next week

will give you the absences for next week. You can try individual dates or date ranges.

The bot has also been updated to support Slack's new Block Kit layout which should mean better readability and layouts on mobile and smaller devices.

We've rolled up a few changes into one announcement:

• We've updated the logo on the website to match the mobile app. Other parts of Timetastic will follow soon. 🖌️
• Hovering over that new logo will give you a QR code you can scan on your mobile device to download the app straight away. Want to quickly get the app? https://get.timetastic.app will open your app store right on our app page. 📲
• Emails for booking leave now have your icons in them, in the colour you've chosen.

Alongisde that there's some fixes for people signing up hitting a rate limit and some stability fixes for our emailer.

No big features this month but here's a roundup of our bugfixes and improvements:

- Fixed an issue where if you deleted an approver, any bookings they approved wouldn't be in reports 📊

- Fixed an edge case where if you updated many users at a time, you'd come up against a rate limit, stopping you editing more. 🏃‍♀️

- Inviting users now knows the difference between you re-sending them an invite and sending the first invite 📨

- Fixed a really rare edge case (4 times since 2014!) where it was possible to restore an admin user without an email address 🛑

- Fixed loads of text overflow, line clamping and truncation issues throughout the web app 📝

- Fixed the department boss name not updating when editing a user and changing their department 🐛
