Happy Friday everyone

Good news! We've redesigned the leave type settings page. While we were in there we added this:
Each and every leave type can now be set to show as "Busy" or "Available" in external calendars. Google Calendar, iCal, Outlook - anywhere you can send an iCal feed.
This will only affect external calendars and won't change anything in Timetastic for that leave type. A few (thousand) of you requested it so we hope this helps you organise your leave types better. Calendars can take a few minutes to update after changing availability while we sync up all the bookings in the background
API consumers will also see this in new fields, check the API docs for more info.
Stay tuned for more updates.
We've given the sign-in and signup screens a lovely fresh new look 🎉
They had felt a little behind in terms of brand, so it's nice to see them moving forward like the rest of the app.
All the sign-in features are still there - sign in with a password, with Google, with a password-free code and there are links to help if you're having issues.
You can also now signup using Google, making signups quicker and easier.
No big features this month but here's a roundup of our bugfixes and improvements:
- Fixed an issue where if you created a new user with a pro-rata allowance you weren't taken into their details to continue setting them up 📅
- On rare occasions, the copy invoice was not sent out, this has now been fixed 📨
- Improved the copy where there is no approver ✅
Hopefully more exciting updates coming soon.
Hey Timetastic users!
After considering your feedback, we have decided to rename the term ‘Boss’ to the friendlier and more approachable term ‘Manager’.
'Boss' is a somewhat dated term, it's not reflective of our customers - so it's gone.
At present the mobile app still has some references to "Boss" in it, these will come out in the next update.
Thanks
If a request is still hanging around waiting to be approved after a week, we'll send a handy reminder to the approver that it needs dealing with.
We've all seen this happen, someone puts in a request for time off and a week goes by without it being approved, maybe their manager is away or missed the original request. It's not ideal, your colleague just wants to know if they can have that day off.
There used to have a function in Timetastic where you could manually trigger the reminder, but it was a bit hidden away and not used much despite the number of pending requests. So automating this process means it's one less thing to worry about, an additional bit of streamlining, helping you keep everything up to date 👏
We've cleaned up the Departments settings page a little so it's easier to digest and use. The main thing you'll notice is the 'default allowances' are gone.
Default allowances for a given department have been redundant for over a year now because you give each user their own allowance when you create their account in Timetastic.
We've added the country of a public holiday into the iCal feeds, to make it easier to see where the holiday is taking place, for example:
"Early May Bank Holiday"
will now show as
"Early May Bank Holiday - United Kingdom"
It's mainly useful if you have a team split over different countries.
Happy February!
We've updated the Timetastic bot and added a slash command so you can find out when your team are absent.
/timetastic next week
will give you the absences for next week. You can try individual dates or date ranges.
If you're in any doubt
/timetastic help
will give you a rundown of what you can do.
The bot has also been updated to support Slack's new Block Kit layout which should mean better readability and layouts on mobile and smaller devices.
We've rolled up a few changes into one announcement:
