June fixes and improvements

We've wrapped up some improvements and fixes throughout Timetastic.

  • In some cases you couldn't remove an email address from a user if they'd been a department boss/approver. Now you can. 👍 
  • Custom public holiday locations with no users assigned are no longer displayed in the public holidays settings 🧹
  • If you had a locked date and a booking on the same day you couldn't cancel the holiday without unlocking the date first. Now you can. ✅
  • In some cases, the wallchart would become unresponsive when clicking a booking with a locked date - that's fixed too. 🛠
  • On mobile, clicking "book time off" on a locked date wouldn't load the book form - now it does. 



Account recycling

Improvement:

We've automated our account recycling policy. There's little reason to hold onto personal data in old/dormant Timetastic accounts, both from a data protection point of view and the unnecessary use of server space and power.

Timetastic accounts that go inactive for over 18 months will be flagged for recycling and warnings sent by email.

Fix:

Fixed the display of what time your next burnout snapshot is due to be sent out

Google Workspace & Email Summary improvements 🛠

Hello 👋 

We've got a few fixes and updates going out today. Here's the details:

Email summaries

They now know about daylight savings, so when you set your time to 9am, it'll actually be delivered at 9am all of the time 🙌 not just when the timezones align!

In addition we've made the "who is absent" lookup timezone aware too, so you should get better results if you're offset from UTC by a fair bit...🦘

Google Workspace

Our sync engine has been robustified to handle Google's updates better. The end result is you should see more reliable user syncing and quicker updates in Timetastic. 

Other updates

When cancelling leave we weren't always notifying the person and their boss. That's fixed now, so we notify correctly in this situation.

The settings page had some nips and tucks to styling here and there

🚀 NEW MOBILE APP 🚀 - beta testers wanted!

Hi there,

We've got an entirely new Timetastic mobile app in the final stages of development and need some beta testers, some people keen to see the shiny new app and feedback any issues or problems.

This isn't some minor enhancement to the existing app, this is 100% new. New design, new screens, it's even got dark mode! 👏

It's open to any existing Timetastic user:

Fix: Users can lose their approver

Thanks to some diligent investigation and a perfectly worded support ticket 👍 we identified an issue 🐛 where in some circumstances a user would lose their approver if they then updated their profile. 🙁

In normal Timetastic fashion we robustified the code around user updates, improved our test coverage and have just pushed the fix out.


Collection of fixes

- We've made the current year/year end clearer on the calendar page to reduce some confusion

- Entering a login code super fast could sometimes trip things up and skip over some numbers. That's sorted now 👍

- Some small improvements around group bookings and the mobile experience

Small bugfix to summary reports

We've fixed an issue with the annual summary reports where in rare circumstances your users would show as having booked nothing of a certain leave type off - when in fact they had.

We promise the next updates will be more exciting.......


New "My Preferences" page

New style Preferences page for you today. Nothing has changed in functionality, but it's more legible and accessible now. Especially on smaller screens.

In the invisible engine compartment of Timetastic we've tidied up some logging.


Legal updates

Some more updates to our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.

Part of the ongoing process to make them clearer and easier to understand.

Main points to note:

Terms of service

We are switching to more conversational language, removing the stuffiness.

A full rewrite of the Cancellation and Termination section. To get rid of large swathes of unnecessary legalese and clarify that you can cancel anytime, instantly. And that all your data will be deleted from all backups within 14 days.

Privacy policy - 3rd party apps.

We're stepping up privacy and Google Analytics is the first casualty👏. We removed all Google Analytics tracking from the website and app. We won't be feeding their big data machine any longer. 

And with that we've removed Google Inc as a 3rd party data processor.
